Janet Lynn Greenwald decided to shoot her neighbor’s dog using a bow and two arrows to “quiet” the dog. Moose, a Mastiff, was struck in the jaw.
Greenwald is being charged with animal cruelty in Hancock County, Weirton, West Virginia. She made threats in the past to shoot the dog if he didn’t shut up, according to Police Chief, Rob Alexander.
Larissa Stewart was in her home when she heard her dog, Moose, crying outside in her fenced in yard. She saw Moose with a hole in his face and covered in blood. She also found two arrows on the ground.
“Honestly, I don’t know why anyone would do this because any of my neighbors, anybody will tell you he’s a gentle giant, amazing with kids, amazing with other animals. I just don’t understand who in their right mind would do something like this,” Stewart said.
The police arrested Greenwald when she confessed after being confronted. They found arrows at her residence matching those that were used on Moose. The arrows were broad heads which means they have razor blades on the end of the arrows typically used for hunting wild animals.
Moose was taken to the Emergency Animal Hospital in Wheeling where 13 staples were used to close his wound. He will recover.
The code in West Virginia reads if you intentionally torture an animal, the definition of torture means to intentionally inflict pain, that’s a felony,” Alexander said.

I would sue her till she didn’t have a pot to piss in let her spend about a yeAr in jail she won’t worry about dog barking when she gets out
Robyn Frost says
FELONY!! It needs to be treated as such! She should be thrown in jail and all weapons removed for life! She deserves the arrow, not this poor dog.

She intended to kill Moose because broadheads are used and meant to kill. With that intention she needs to be charged with the strongest felony charges. She needs to spend significant time behind bars.

AND animal cruelty laws in all 50 states need to make the punishment fit the crime. Please stop with the light sentences.

Yes she is!

That is one hateful, cruel lady. Damn, man. Who does that to quiet a dog? What’s happening to everyone anymore?
ccw says
She is sick to do that. No one in their right normal mind could do such a brutal act to a dog unless the animal was attacking her.
Nuts and bolts says
People are nuts and crazy. Shooting and killing pets unless if your life is in danger is happening too much. I don’t where people get the idea it’s okay to kill pets because they’re annoyed by barking. Dogs bark. It’s what they do! Move away if you can’t take it or don’t like it. Damn. People are plain nuts!
A deer hunter says
The bow and arrows Janet Lynn Greenwald used is meant to kill an animal. She wanted to kill Moose. Her aim was poor, thank god. A bow and arrow is not meant to be used on domestic animals. The vet who shot the cat with an arrow- she wanted that cat dead and was ecstatic about doing it. Bows are meant for hunting not to hurt, maim or kill our pets. I’m glad Moose will be okay. I love my dogs and I would hurt anyone ( I talk big but I don’t want to hurt anyone) who tried to kill them. If my neighbor has a problem with my dogs, I hope that person will talk to me instead of resorting what this despicable woman did.
