Sunday, May 1st, the WK & S Railroad (Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern) will be offering the Bow Wow Express where you can enjoy a scenic train ride with your best friend! You and your dog will enjoy a 40 minute diesel powered excursion through the countryside between Kempton and Wanamaker, Pennsylvania. The first trip begins promptly at 1 PM with additional Bow Wow Express trips departing at 2, 3, and 4 PM. The WK & S Railroad is located at 42 Community Center Drive, Kempton. The public is asked to have their dogs on leashes and encourage polite (well-behaved) dogs to come along. They want the dogs to enjoy the train ride with you!
This special event is being held to benefit the Hillside SPCA located at 51 SPCA Road, Pottsville, PA. Hillside is a nonprofit, no-kill shelter with dedicated staff and volunteers helping to save animals every single day. They encounter animals being abused, abandoned, surrendered or lost and so much more. They work tirelessly to help all of them. Hillside saved the life of my precious bestie, Brody, who had to have his leg amputated. Hillside incurred those expenses. Because of them, Brody could live and now my husband and I are the beneficiaries of having our tripawd as part of our family. I am so thankful to Hillside every day for saving Brody’s life. This is the type of shelter you would be helping. Hillside provides animal welfare services to all of Schuylkill County.
Train Rides:
Reservations are not required.
Trains depart at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.
Adults: $10.00
Children (3-11): $5.00
2 and Under: FREE
4-Legged Kids: $2.00
In addition, if you make a donation to Hillside, your child (of all ages) can have his/her face painted FREE!

When you bring your furry best buddy to ride, you will receive a coupon for 50 cents to redeem for a hot dog at the refreshment stand. (1 hot dog= 1 dog) Your dog will receive dog biscuits compliments of Tender Touch Dog Grooming, Hamburg, PA.
All proceeds go to Hillside SPCA. If you’ve been looking for a fun activity for you and your dogs, come out this Sunday from 1-4 PM and enjoy a ride on the WK & S Bow Wow Express!

I thought a no kill shelter would be against eating meat. Offering hot dogs at these events isn’t right.
I wish I could go since my dog would love this! 🙁
Too far for me to travel but it sounds like a good time to spend with our pooches.
