I received the following information via email from the House Democratic Caucus.
The House of Representatives successfully passed House Bills 2525 &2532 as you know. House Bill 2525 would set minimum, humane living standards in large scale commercial kennels. It would also prohibit anyone but a veterinarian to euthanize dogs at these kennels. (We would never have a repeat of the tragedy of the 80 puppymill dogs shot and killed by the Zimmerman brothers in Berks County, PA.)
House Bill 2532 would require certain surgeries including debarking and cesarean sections to be performed by licensed veterinarians only. This applies to all dogs – not just commercial kennels.
The Senate was given these bills yesterday, the 17th, by the PA House of Representatives. The bills will be considered next week.
The Senate will adjourn on October 8th which literally gives them only a handful of actual voting days on these bills. If these bills don’t pass and become law by November 30th, these bills are dead and the process will have to start all over again.
PLEASE DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN!
You can contact your State Senator or the Chairman of Senate Agriculture and Rural Committee and Senate Leaders and urge them to make sure the bills receive a “YES” vote now through the House Democratic Action Center. Please click it on and send immediately for the sake of the dogs. Please still call or send an email directly to your Senator. The more calls and letters they receive the more of an impact we can have to save the lives of these dogs.

Don’t forget to sign the petition at www.savingpuppies.com. This petition will be given directly to the PA Senate.
Together we can make a difference! Please share this with your friends! Thank you.
