One of the 10 dogs removed on Tuesday
On Tuesday, December 2nd, the PSPCA removed 10 dogs from an unlicensed breeder in Leola, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
The man who runs this alleged puppy mill has now been officially charged with 10 counts of animal cruelty.
Elam Beiler of Leola was cited with 10 summary counts of unsanitary confinement and failure to provide veterinary care following an investigation and a search warrant executed Tuesday afternoon by PSPCA Humane Law Enforcement officers.
Responding to a tip, PSPCA Humane Law Enforcement officers executed the search warrant at Beiler’s unlicensed kennel in Leola and found the dogs living in unsanitary conditions and with untreated medical issues. PSPCA seized ten Maltese and Poodle-type dogs. Beiler surrendered the dogs to the PSPCA and they are being further evaluated and treated to make them ready for adoption.
“The PSPCA is dedicated to getting justice for these animals,” said Pennsylvania SPCA CEO Jerry Buckley. “We are happy that these animals have a chance to heal and recover before finding their forever homes.

Close them! Why should any remain open?

I agree with Sue. They are filthy places where dogs are treated so badly. The public doesn’t know how tragic mills ar e for dogs and cats. Remove all the dogs from this man (?). A man is not a man when he has animals doing all the hard work and receive nothing in exchange. They’re basically pimping out their dogs to make a buck. Sickening! Poor doggie!

It’s wonder if this dog can see. Between the crusty eyes and what appears to be contacts, she probably has very little vision. I’m sure they removed the crust which will allow her to see a bit. God bless these souls.
