In a precious article I had written about the German Shephard puppy being raffled off for a fundraiser by the Sheriff’s department at the annual Cleveland County Fair. The post received major criticism and backlash from the public causing the Sheriff’s Dep’t to remove the post that garnered over 5,000 comments.
The proceeds from the raffle were to go back to the department aiding in the training of a Cleveland County K-9 dog.
The vetting process for the winner and how the proceeds would be used was not mentioned in their Facebook post causing the negative commentary by the public both online and by phone. Some of the criticism was found to be disturbing by the Sheriff’s Dep’t and not deserved.
For 18 years, there was never a problem with the raffle until the Sheriff decided to use social media to post it. There was support among the backlash

These raffles have never made sense to me because they are ridiculous. It will happen again. They will be smarter and not publicize it. Sad.
