As you are aware, Ratchet (pictured), the beloved puppy who has garnered international attention when he wasn’t allowed to come to the states after Sgt. Beberg (pictured ) took care of him in Iraq after being pulled from a burning pile of trash, is now safe with Gwen’s parents until she arrives home.
I have been in contact with Katie Konrath , Gwen’s friend, who brought this story to light and consequently a petition was created to allow the Army to release Ratchet to Gwen to come home with her to the states.
I had reported earlier that Sgt. Gwen Beberg was demoted but had no confirmation. Katie confirmed that Gwen was, in fact, demoted. No details were given; although I feel this story did play a role. But I’m happy to say that Gwen is not worried about it because she is going to be done with the Army in a couple of months. She is happy about the outcome of Ratchet.
Katie told me that she is very, very happy for the outcome for Ratchet! So are many others! But don’t forget Operation Baghdad Pups is saving more dog and cat’s lives in Iraq. This was one of many stories of soldiers saving these animals’ lives. I commend the soldiers and Operation Baghdad Pups for the great work they are doing!
