We will not only be discussing Awareness Day but the new regulations that were approved by the Independent Regulatory Review Commission last week that has changed our dog law – Act 119- from its original version in which so many animal advocates fought so hard for to a bill that does not aim to protect dogs stuck in puppy mills.
I also wanted to let my readers know that Walt Hargis, Co-Founder of Awareness Day has been in a serious accident. It occurred last Tuesday. I spoke with him yesterday and he was being released from the trauma unit. He has a long recovery ahead of him. His leg was broken in four places plus four broken toes and a fractured wrist and more.
He was to be a guest on my show. Walt is very dedicated to this cause. I know he is frustrated about his current circumstances but others have stepped up to the plate to help him. He will have to endure multiple surgeries. Walt, hang in there, my friend. Walt has an amazing attitude even on painkillers!! LOL! Walt is not sure if he will be able to attend Puppy Mill Awareness Day so I’m reminding all of you out there about this man’s dedication to this cause. He works very hard for this to be a success. I hope so many of you will come out on Awareness Day to show your support for the Puppy Mill dogs but also for Walt.
Plus, our fight is not over. We have a new law which is being changed in PA. You can do something to help stop these new regulations.
Call or contact Governor Rendell and your represtentatives and tell them NO to these new regulations. These dogs need us to speak up for them.
