This is Bobby, a 1 year-old terrier mix, whose picture and story went viral on social media after he was abandoned last December at the Miami-Dade animal shelter. He looks so unbelievably sad in this photo wearing his Christmas sweater and that’s exactly what caught the eye of several people who wanted to adopt him this yesterday.
Three people came to see him yesterday after viewing his post on Facebook. While two of the potential adopters were talking about Bobby’s future, a woman, Paolo Mariaca, was quietly filling out the adoption application to become his new mommy.
“I was lucky. I came at the right time,” Paola Mariaca told CBS4.
“He’s going to have a schnauzer sister and two English bulldogs as sisters. So he’s going to be the boy of the house,” said Paola. Not only will he have a new home but he will have playmates!!
According to a report, Paola volunteers at the shelter and helps to put sweaters on the pups, like the Christmas sweater that made Bobby famous. I wonder why it took social media for her to adopt Bobby if she had access to him since December. Still, it’s a victory for Bobby!
Miami-Dade animal shelter and shelters across the nation are full of pups just like Bobby- adorable and waiting to find a new home after being abandoned or surrendered. Please check your local shelters on any given day to see who is there.
We don’t have to wait for a picture to go viral on social media for someone to see all of the pets waiting for that special someone.
At least, Bobby will no longer be miserable. Congrats to Bobby and Paolo!

I really enjoy looking at this site, it holds great articles. “A short saying often contains much wisdom.” by Sophocles.

Bobby I was excited to know you found a home. When I saw your photo circulating, it was heartbreaking. When I hear people say dogs have feelings like we do, I laugh at their thoughts on that but am also puzzled why they think that. Looking at your photo shows a dog who appears hopeless, defeated and so sad. I don’t know why you ended up in a shelter but your picture won the hearts of many. More importantly, it won the heart of someone who will never abandon you again. No more sadness for Bobby! Now you can be happy and never look so miserable again.

Awww….tears of joy for Bobby. He reminds me so much of a dog I used to have. He’s in heaven now. I see so much of him in Bobby.

Why does everyone clamor over an image or article of a pet that needs a home but not over the thousands of dogs and cats who are in those same shelters every single day of the year? What’s wrong with the other animals in desperate need of a home but their story isn’t in the paper? Every pet has a story that’s in a shelter and their stories are just as sad. Go to your local shelter and I guarantee you’ll find another “Bobby” waiting for a home who looks so sad and scared.

I question why the adopter didn’t attempt to adopt Bobby sooner since she volunteered there. No one mentions it. It’s a valid point you brought up but I guess, in the end, all that matters is Bobby found a new home.
