Alexis Escalera, pictured, has been arrested for beating a relative’s dog to death with a baseball bat.
Apparently Escalera, his wife and daughter were temporarily moving into his mother-in-law’s house, when the dog who belonged to his mother-in-law’s son, nipped Escalera’s daughter who did not require any medical attention. The son locked the dog in his upstairs bedroom.
Escalera took it upon himself to take a bat to the Pitbull-Labrador Retriever mix and beat and beat him at the home and later took him and dropped him off on Mount Penn where he was found alive but tortured. He subsequently died.
Escalera has been charged with cruelty to animals and theft. I don’t know if he’s being charged with a misdemeanor or a felony.
Once again, we read about another horror story of animal cruelty. What will Escalera do if his own daughter or wife does something he doesn’t like? Or what will he do if another person crosses him? Beat him with a bat or worse?
This story hit home with me because of someone I know had the exact same thing done to his dog quite a few years ago. No, my friend’s dog did not bite anyone. My friend, who wishes to remain anonymous, had a dispute with a relative. The relative was the one at fault. However, the relative didn’t see it that way and was furious with my friend.
My friend would let his dog out in his fenced yard throughout the day and that one day his dog was no where to be found in his yard. Someone found him…… on a nearby corner severely beaten up. The dog had been taken to the Humane Society where he subsequently died.
My friend loved his dog. He took very good care of him. But I will never understand why he never pressed charges. I was furious over what happened and I tried to encourage him to call the police but he never did. No, my friend had nothing to hide. Perhaps he was afraid of his relative and more retaliation. When one beats a dog or any animal to death, one has serious mental issues as I have stated so many times. But that wouldn’t matter to me……..I would press charges in a heartbeat. No one would EVER get away with killing my dogs!
I fear not only for other animals around Escalera but any person who may cross him in the future. This “man” is only 28 yrs. old and he committed such a heinous act. What is next for him?
That dog did not deserve what happened to him but I hope Escalera gets what he deserves!!!!!
