The PSPCA has named the suspect who was arrested this past Thursday at a cockfighting ring bust at a Bernville farm, Berks County, Pennsylvania according to Sarah R.Eremus, PSPCA’s Communication and Marketing Manager.
Jesus Rodriguez, 31, of Reading, has been charged with 10 felony counts of animal cruelty to animals for ownership of fighting roosters. The investigation is ongoing.
After receiving a tip Thursday morning, the PSPCA went to the farm with a search warrant where they found cockfighting paraphernalia and hundreds of birds on scene.
The PSPCA arrested Rodriguez, who owned dozens of the fighting birds. Officers
removed over 100 birds and were taken to their headquarters in
Philadelphia for evaluation. More than half of them have been surrendered
to the PSPCA.
Other animals removed were three dogs, a goat, and a horse by officers based on animal cruelty violations involving unsanitary confinement, failure to provide veterinary
care, and failure to provide adequate sustenance. The dogs and the goat
have already been surrendered to the PSPCA.
“Rodriguez and others need to know that cockfighting is a felony offense
that will not be tolerated in Pennsylvania,” said CEO Jerry Buckley. “The
PSPCA is determined to end this and other brutal crimes to animals in the
Commonwealth.”

What about the other people involved in the ring? He can’t be the only one!
Mary says
Cocckfighting is awful animal abuse. Attaching knives to their legs to slice the other animal. People who use animals for entertainment and abuse don’t deserve to breathe.
Shelly says
Sick bastard. Rot in jail.

There has to be more than one suspect. I can’t imagine he ran that whole farm himself. What about the people who watch the fights? Aren’t they as guilty as him? I’d think so.
