According to an article in today’s Reading Eagle, two children in Reading were bitten last evening by a Pit Bull. One child was taken to the hospital and treated.
Police were called and they found the “Pit Bull” in a backyard but found no sign of the owner. An investigation is underway. Let us not forget this dog was on the loose. Why wasn’t this dog secured in his home or backyard? This isn’t the fault of the dog in my opinion. We’ll see what the investigation uncovers in the coming days.
First, I am truly sorry these two children were bit. But once again, it is assumed the dog in question is a Pit Bull. And of course, as we all know, a story of this “breed” of dog will always make its way into the paper and the news.
But, was this dog truly a Pit Bull? Did you know there are many breeds of dogs that are confused with the so-called Pit Bull? Go to this page and see if you can pick out the real Pit Bull.
Is it really fair to continually to punish this “breed” or is it time to punish the owner?
