A victim retrived by SHARK from the Delaware River in March
In a news release sent to me by SHARK, five citations were filed for “ill-treatment of animals” against the Philadelphia Gun Club (PGC) by Humane Society Police Officer, Johnna Seeton, according to SHARK. These citations were in reference to two pigeon shoots held in March of this year.
This is a follow-up story to the one I wrote concerning the live pigeon shoots held at this gun club which continues to participate in this barbaric “sport.” The club is located in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
The five citations came as a result of two live pigeon shoots held at PGC in March of this year. Each citation represents a pigeon that was wounded by someone participating in the shoot at the PGC and also the live retrieval of these birds by SHARK. SHARK reps were stationed in boats in the Delaware River which borders the club’s property. This was not the first time Officer Seeton, of the PA Legislative Animal Network (PLAN), has filed a similar charge against this gun club. In 2010, the Officer filed a charge after a wounded pigeon was retrieved, once again, by a SHARK rep stationed in a boat in the river.
In this particular case, according to SHARK, Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler, who mocked the cruelty charge, “brokered a private arrangement for the PGC to evade the citation by making a small donation to a local humane society.”
To say the least, that move was condemned by SHARK, Officer Seeton and the humane community.
Let’s hope these charges stick and Heckler can’t broker an arrangement again for these charges. It is past due for these gun clubs to pay for the cruelty they impose against defenseless birds. For more information, see: Pashame.com
