In a press release by the Nassau County SPCA, details have emerged about a man (pictured/photo, Nassau County police), Aaron Kluger, 20, of Port Washington, New York, who bit the right eye out of the family’s pet shih Tzu, Chloe’s socket.
Kluger has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty for torturing and injuring an animal, a Class A misdemeanor in New York.
On November 6th, 3 year old Chloe was taken to an animal hospital at 9 pm by a member of the family with a “serious eye injury.” The veterinarian determined Chloe’s right eye was bitten out and subsequently contacted the SPCA.
Chloe had surgery to reattach her right eye. “At this time, with proper care and treatment, the veterinarian is hopeful her eye will be saved,” the SPCA said.
After Nassau County SPCA conducted an investigation, they arrested Kluger for this inconceivable crime against man’s best friend this past Saturday. He will face a judge on December 27, 2017 in First District Court in Hempstead NY for the misdemeanor charges.
(In my opinion, if animal cruelty is not treated as the serious crime that it is and a case where an eye is bitten out of a dog’s eye socket, if there is no deterrent for abusers, they will repeat their abusive crimes. Misdemeanor charges will most likely result in a fine. Despite animal cruelty being a felony in all 50 states in the nation, it doesn’t equate to people being charged with felonies and receiving harsh punishments. This has to change.)
A similar animal cruelty incident occurred in 2015 when a Florida woman’s son bit the eye out of their pet dog, Cujo. Cujo had his eye reattached but required two operations. In 2015, Cujo’s mom, Michele Campbell Etzel, said her son, David Etzel, 36 (at the time) was drunk when he bit Cujo’s eye out of his socket. D. Etzel bit the dog in retaliation after the dog bit him in the face when the man picked Cujo up by the throat. His abusive act was pulling his eye out of its socket. The mom said her son committed the crime because he was drunk. He did spend some time in jail after being charged with animal cruelty. The mom no longer wanted her son around her pets. Cujo fully recovered from the severe injury.

Plus the same thing happened to another dog who looks similar 2 yrs ago. Mental illness. That hasn’t to be the reason. Nothing makes sense anymore.
Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein says
It does certainly makes you wonder what is happening to people who do this.
