A Bronx teenage girl, Cheyenne Cherry ,17, has been arrested for the unspeakable and brutal death of a two-month old kitten, Tiger Lily, that belonged to her ex-roommate, Valerie Hernandez, 19.
On May 6th, Cherry and a friend allegedly broke into Hernandez’s apartment and decided to play a joke and mess up her apartment by slashing furniture and throwing bleach on the walls.
Cherry then decided to place Hernandez’s kitten, Tiger Lily into a hot oven to bake to death. When city officials arrived after calls were placed when they smelled smoke, they found Tiger Lily dead in the oven. A necropsy had to be performed to determine if the kitten was male or female.
Cherry allegedly stated that she could hear Tiger Lily crying and scratching at the oven door as she left the apartment.
The following photo are the faces of the alleged perpetrator- Cheyenne Cherry and Tiger Lily.
ASPCA officer, Joseph Pentangelo, who arrested Cherry states the reason Cherry gave him for committing this heinous and horrifice crime – “I hate cats”. She also stated it was a practical joke. A practical joke she and her boyfriend pulled on someone last year when they held a BB gun to a woman’s forehead and stole her teacup Yorkie. Some practical joke, Cherry…
I don’t know about you but I would love to smack that grin off of Cherry’s face. Perhaps to some unsympathetic people, this is still no big deal.
Thank God Cherry is considered an adult under New York state law and could get up to 10 years in prison if convicted of all charges including multiple counts of burglary, arson and criminal mischief and of course felony aggravated animal cruelty.
Not to be redundant, but this is how many serial killers or abusers start their downward spiral life of crime- by killing an innocent animal who did nothing to provoke such an evil act. When are people going to wake up and realize the correlation between animal abuse/cruelty and abuse or killing of humans. At least Cherry will be tried as an adult and I hope and pray she will be given the maximum sentence allowed under the law.
A message needs to be sent to others who are thinking about perpetrating such a crime against animals. If you would like your voice to be heard, you can sign a petition site here.
If you are so inclined, you can write letter or call officials pertaining to this case and let it be know that this person cannot get away with this animal cruelty.
Remember we have to be the voices for those who can’t speak for themselves and Tiger Lily needs us to be her voice.
Let justice prevail!! Give Cherry the maximum sentence. I have no pity for her even though her brother states that her sister is an animal lover…….Please!!!
