“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”— Anatole France
Although National Love Your Pet Day on Thursday, February 20th is an unofficial holiday, it’s a day that needs to be celebrated every day!
This day is to show your pets how much you love and cherish them. Spend time with them. Engage in fun and/or loving time with them. Make a day of it! No matter what type of pet you have, whether it’s a dog, cat, bird, snake, reptiles, horses, chickens, ducks or other, take the time to show them extra love. Animals are social beings and want/need attention from you.
The United States is a nation where the majority of people have a pet. From the 2018 AVMA statistics, nearly 77,000,000 million dogs reside in our homes and over 58 million cats live with us.
Then there are the bird lovers who have over 7.5 million of our feathered friends living among us and nearly 2 million horses are kept by equine lovers.
Play ball with your dog, play with string with your cat, walk around with your bird on your shoulder and spend time with your horse!
Whatever you do, make it fun, enjoyable and loving for your pet.
What will you do with your pet on National Love Your Pet Day?
I think I will have a play date with my dog, Brody and spend time with my dove, Mr. Biggie B! ( I already do this but I’ll make sure they know it’s an extra special day!!)
