Yes, you heard right. Wayne Pacelle, President of the Humane Society of the United States has met with Michael Vick two times recently and they have decided to Vick “will work on programs aimed at preventing youths from getting involved in dogfighting and on programs aimed at assisting youths who have been involved.
The HSUS was apparently approached by a representative of Vick’s. Hmm…do I smell image makeover? I have to wonder why the HSUS would want to use a known animal abuser who hasn’t even served his entire sentence and has NOT proven he is reformed.
The HSUS feels Vick “could use his sway over youths to discourage them from involvement in dogfighting as well as help those who were apprehended in connection with it”.
WHAT????? This “man” has never shown any true remorse, just as DMX , the rapper hasn’t for his involvement in dogfighting. I told you about him in a previous post. Let him show true repentance before you use him as a role model for teenagers or anyone for that matter.
Vick did say in his testimony that what he committed was a “heinous” act and should have acted more maturely. Acted more maturely- that’s his answer? To have acted more maturely. Vick, you participated in the brutal killing of your OWN dogs by electrocuting, drowning, hanging and throwing them viciously against cement until they died. And that was immature. You were committed of animal cruelty.
How can any animal welfare agency consider using this man at this stage while still incarcerated for animal cruelty charges? Granted, he won’t be of service to them until he is released in July. But, come on. This makes no sense.
If this was you or me, would be allowed to be the poster child for the anti-dogfighting campaign? Hell no!! Why allow Vick to be used?
I believe the motivating factor on both sides is pure and simple – money. Both of them can use each other. Vick can revamp his image and make himself appear as a worthy citizen who cares about the welfare of animals and eventually get reinstated to the NFL. That is Vick’s ultimate goal. The HSUS can make money off of Vick as well. It’s a two way street and I just can’t believe these two have partnered up.
By the way, Vick has been released from prison early this morning where he now goes to home confinement. Tough life!
Do you feel this is a good partnership and why or why not?
