Maranatha Farm’s Animal Sanctuary located at the base of Hawk Mountain, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, is a very special place called home for the special needs and special issues animals it has rescued since 2004 when it was founded. Since that time over 75 animals have passed through their doors and into the hearts of those who take care of them. To date, the sanctuary has been home to dogs, cats, horses, ponies, chickens, and turtles.
Maranatha Sanctuary is in need of a new home for the 57 animals they currently have. The property they use for the sanctuary is being prepared to be put for sale by its current owner leaving this rescue without a home which includes 8 horses, 6 dogs, 38 cats, and 5 chickens.

The small nonprofit whose work includes working with and alongside pet owners and animal rescue organizations for the sole purpose of finding loving, permanent homes for adoptable pets including farm animals does not have the funds to purchase the property outright. They are searching and in need of another farm with a long term lease or lease purchase option that would be suitable for the animals and caregiver(s.)
The new location will require a combination of sheds/stalls with a pasture and access to clean fresh water to accommodate the horses and chickens.
Because a full time caretaker will be living on the premises a small dwelling will be needed. This will allow someone to be at the sanctuary at all times.
A large outbuilding that has electric and heat is also needed to be a home to the cats the rescue has. An added bonus for them would be the capability to expand the facility for animal care and housing.

Another important part of Maranatha Sanctuary’s mission is to reach out to the public, both adults and children, to promote the human/animal bond. They take part in demonstrations about proper care, training and health-related topics regarding pets. Their doors are open to the public to give tours (by app’t only) so you may see the animals and the work they do. Groups are welcomed.
