The video you watched is heartbreaking, to say the least. I know what people are not only thinking, but actually what they want to do to this man.
Six Lab-mix puppies were dumped off outside of Walker Humane Society in Alabama seven days ago by a man who grabbed each one by the scruff of their necks as the video clearly shows.
UPDATE: According to Walker Humane Society:
“For everyone that has been concerned about the puppies that were dropped off and caught on video…that individual has come forward to us. He has given us his side of the situation, and he has also given us a donation, and we have had a long conference with him. He came forth on his own…and we will handle things from here without major media attention.”
The Humane Society is not going to release his name because of threats against him; although the shelter said everyone knows who he is in the area.
Two of the puppies have not been found. Three of the four puppies survived. The remaining three will be placed up for adoption. And as we all know, they will find a home because of the media attention.
FYI: This is the same shelter that has come under attack for euthanizing a dog that had ID tags on him last year. I had written about that story last year of Boost, a boxer, who was killed by this same shelter. The director stated that the dog was vicious after an elderly couple found him and brought him in. Video surveillance proves that the shelter director contradicts what is shown in that video. She claims Boost’s demeanor was one of a mean Pit Bull (they didn’t know the breed of the dog) that gave them a difficult time getting off the elderly couple’s truck. It was the elderly couple who took the gentle dog off the truck as shown in that video.
This shelter is facing a lawsuit and rightly so. The dog was dead within a half-hour after being dropped off by the elderly couple with ID tags on him. They claim that was enough time to do a behavior assessment. In my opinion, it takes longer than a half-hour to see what an animal’s personality is truly like. Being in a new environment would scare any animal. Sometimes it can take days for the true personality to come forth. Nevertheless, the dog had ID tags on him.
Do you think this current episode redeems this shelter in any way? Your thoughts.
