“Animal rights advocate Hans Peterson is under arrest after trying to help a dog locked inside of a foreclosed Los Angeles home. Neighbors say when the owners left the home they took everything but the dogs. Taz was in the garage. A puppy was in the house. Next door neighbor Elisa Woods says she worried they were getting hungrier so she called for help.”
Neighbors said these owners were gone for days when LA Animal Services finally showed up.
“L.A. Animal Services came with food and water, but they didn’t enter the home. “Possibility the people could come back and then they could turn this around and sue the city,” explained Animal Services Officer Hoang Dinh.”
So they leave the dog and puppy behind in the HOT house and garage even after neighbors tell them the owners are never coming back. Make sense?
The city says they are required to give a written warning to the owners before entering the home or removing the dogs. That wasn’t good enough for animal rescuer Hans Petersen.
Hans entered the home, then came out with a six-month-old puppy as shown in the following video. The LAPD arrived moments later while a news crew was there and Hans was arrested for interfering with Animal Services as they “conducted their duties”.
The six-month old puppy was transported to the South LA animal shelter. Animal control officers left Taz behind in the hot garage. I have found out that Taz has since been removed by an unknown person. I just hope he’s in good hands.
How can animal control officers leave a dog and a puppy behind in a hot house and garage during very hot weather? Aren’t they the ones who are constantly telling people NOT to leave your pets in a parked vehicle? I do understand proper protocol and the law but when a life is at stake, whether it be human or animal, I believe one does whatever it takes to save that life or lives…..period!
You can see the puppy is panting heavily after his rescue from the house. How much longer could he have survived? How can an animal control officer literally walk away from a dire situation like this and allow animals to suffer? Isn’t it their job to make sure animals are safe? Yes, I think so! Shame on these animal control officers!
Do you think Hans made the right choice and should he have been arrested?
