On Sunday, January 14th, 2018, SHARK (Showing Animals Respect and Kindness) filmed the aftermath of a live pigeon shoot took place the previous day, January 13th at Schrader’s Outdoors, located at 106090 Oakland Road, Henderson, MD. SHARK sent an undercover investigator to film evidence of a shoot.
According to SHARK, this is the first time a live pigeon shoot has been proven to happen in Maryland. Pennsylvania is widely known for the brutal slaughter of live pigeon shoots held at well known hunt/gun clubs in Berks and Bucks Counties.’
What the investigator found was dismembered pigeon body parts and a large pit where pigeons from the shoot had been burned. The bodies of geese and ducks were also found inside this pit. The investigator took photos and footage of the graphic scenes for evidence to prove a live pigeon shoot had taken place at this property. The experienced undercover investigator was not prepared for what happened next.
As SHARK’s investigator was leaving, he saw pigeons who survived the shoot and began to film them with his cell phone. While filming, a worker of the clubhouse approached him while armed with a shotgun. The clubhouse worker told the investigator there was indeed a pigeon shoot that had taken place on January 13th and that Schrader’s Outdoors holds such shoots at least once a year. This member then told the investigator he was going to shoot the pigeons that were near the clubhouse, the ones that were just filmed by SHARK.
The investigator offered to help move the pigeons away; however, the worker not only refused the offer, he said he was going to shoot the pigeons right then and there because he couldn’t shoot them in front of a clay target shooter who might be an “animal lover.”
The worker then fired three times, killing two birds! The investigator got all of this on video.
SHARK was made aware of a live pigeon shoot at Schrader’s in April 2017. The animal rights group not only exposed this information, they said they would film it. Schrader’s canceled the shoot. SHARK set to discover if live pigeon shoots were illegal in the state of Maryland going all the way up to the Maryland Attorney General’s office. However, there never was a definitive answer. SHARK had been under the assumption that live pigeon shoots were illegal. Are they or aren’t they?
Maryland law enforcement and the Maryland office of Attorney General must now reveal whether pigeon shoots are illegal or not,” states Hindi.“If they are, Schrader’s and all who participated in the pigeon shoot must be charged with violating the law. And if these shoot are not illegal, then legislation must be introduced in the state, just as it was for cownose rays, to ban these disgusting acts of animal cruelty.”
“Pigeon shoots are disgusting acts of animal cruelty where hundreds, if not thousands of innocent birds are shot for fun,” states SHARK President Steve Hindi. “We believe the people of Maryland will be appalled at this cruelty, just as they were when we exposed cownose ray killing contests in 2015 and 2016, which led to legislation being passed creating a moratorium on those contests.”

What a selfish moronic man. He was trying to get to the investigator and it worked. These are people who don’t care in the least about life. Shooting on animal right in front of you on purpose to get you going shows what pee brain he has. That move will come back to haunt him one day. ?
This man has no regard for animals or the investigator. He wanted to get a reaction from the investigator by shocking him. I guess his act of killing the pigeons in front of him accomplished what it set out to do.

Live pigeon shoots seem to be making a comeback. Two states openly hold them now and they seem proud of their actions. We’re going backwards. Sigh
Other states have been known to hold live pigeon shoots but they don’t “advertise” because of the reaction from the public.

Have you ever read about SHARK and their tactics? They’re bullies. They’re obnoxious at times. I know you have to fight to help animals. I don’t agree with some of the ways they go about it. I don’t think people like them as they once did. They desperately need money. All of Bob Barker’s 1 million dollars is gone. They should learn how to communicate more effectively with their supporters.
