I received a call from Nicole from the Animal Rescue League asking for the public’s help to find Chip, pictured above. Chip, an unneutered 2 yr. old male Blue Heeler mix was adopted last Saturday, the 31st, to a home in the North Front Street section of Reading.
Chip who weighs 60 lbs. and is a medium sized dog was last seen on Wednesday near the Rt. 724 exit which is located near the Animal Rescue League. Nicole is not sure if Chip was trying to find his way back to the League or to his former home in Boyertown. In either event, there have been no more sightings of Chip.
Chip was last seen wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers bandana. Chip will not go to strangers. It is suggested that if you see him, do not chase him. Chip does prefer women but that is no guarantee he will go to a woman.
With these cold temperatures, it is imperative Chip is found. My dog Buddy ran away from my dad while dog sitting several years ago on New Year’s Eve. We placed posters everywhere, called the radio stations and searched continuously for him. At the time of Buddy’s disappearance, I only had him for less than a month. He, too, would not go to strangers but did eat food that was placed outside in a bowl for him. Buddy eventually found his way back to the general area of my dad’s home, not mine, after close to a week on the run. When he was found he was exhausted and a mess and was found huddled in someone’s garage. He couldn’t go on anymore.
If you see Chip, please call the Animal Rescue League at 610-373-8830. If you get a busy signal, please try again. Please tell them the exact location of the sighting. You may also email Nicole directly at agamagal81@aol.com . If you have food with you, I would suggest placing it on the ground. I’m sure Chip hasn’t much food this past week and is quite hungry. I’m hoping he has eaten snow to quench his thirst.
If someone has Chip and is reading this, please understand he has a microchip and belongs to someone else. But, please do the right thing and return him to the League. You will not be in trouble but they need Chip back at home.
Let’s bring Chip home!
