I abhor the cruelty inflicted upon innocent animals. I hate when I hear or read a story about another case of pet abuse or abandonement. This is a daily occurrence and many people aren’t aware or are oblivious to what is happening, perhaps in their own neighborhood. Maybe people don’t want to know because they can’t deal with the details of such brutality against an animal.
When I wanted to tell a group of people about the truth of kill shelters, I was told to stop. Because YOU can’t handle the authenticity of what I’m saying doesn’t change the facts about the millions of animals that are killed in shelters each year. The truth needs to be told. No sugar coating, please.
People need to know that once you sign your pet over to any kill shelter, they can immediately euthanize it, even as you’re strolling to your car. Your pet that trusted you is losing his/her life because YOU didn’t want him anymore. That will remain on your conscience! Ever been with a dying animal? You should. You should be forced to watch your pet take his last breath because you no longer had the time, nor the commitment to give to this innocent creature.
Our economy is bad no matter how the media spins it. More animals are abandoned in their homes as their owners are forced to leave due to foreclosure. It doesn’t matter how atrocious economic times are, one never leaves a pet behind to fend for itself and either die or found so emaciated that shelter or rescue workers have to work feverishly to help the poor animal because of your stupidity.
If you know of animal abuse or cruelty and do nothing, you are guilty as the real culprit, in my eyes. The law doesn’t agree with my assessment. Animal cruelty lies solely on the perpetrator.
Too many abusers are getting away with their unlawful actions. Puppy mill “farmers” get away with animal abuse on a daily basis since the law says they’re legal. We do have laws to “protect” the dogs but they are rarely, if ever, enforced.
Same as pigeons. PA is the last state in the nation to hold open pigeon shoots with most held in here in Berks County and Southeastern PA. Even though pigeon shoots are technically illegal, the laws are not enforced.
If we are not able to enforce laws already on the books that are meant to assure the safety of animals, how do we protect these very animals?
Don’t legislators have a responsibility to help make laws to protect animals? In the state of PA, it appears to have a new law to protect animals takes decades only to have that very law be slowly dissected until it’s almost back to the original version no matter how the legislators tell us they care about animals. My mama didn’t raise no fool!
I’ve only touched upon the tip of the iceberg when it comes to animals. Too much to include in one post.
Would you report animal cruelty to the proper authorities or would you fear retaliation by those inflicting pain or death to that precious animal? I have and would again. What say you?
