Hillside SPCA is a no-kill shelter that works tirelessly to help the many animals located in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. They operate their shelter facility located at 51 SPCA Road, Pottsville. The shelter houses many cats and dogs and the number of animals in their care at any given time varies with the seasons, spring and summer often being especially busy. The shelter helps hundreds of animals each year who need their protection, shelter, and love.
The building that houses the dogs has needed a new roof and the project, “Keep the Roof Over Their Heads”, is finally underway. Their first priority is to keep the animals safe and secure, warm and dry which is why a new roof is of the upmost importance.
The cost of running Hillside can be quite daunting as you can imagine. The animal shelter is funded almost entirely from private donations from businesses and supporters. It is only because of the caring people that Hillside is able to continue to operate. The funds for the roof replacement project are coming from the General Fund of the shelter budget.
This no-kill shelter desperately need YOUR help now! They are at a point where they are asking for help to pay for the cost of a new roof.

Hillside SPCA, Inc is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation that provides animal welfare services to all of Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The county presently has a population of approximately 153,000. Our service area covers approximately 783 square miles.
The animals who find themselves at Hillside are received as releases from private owners, stray animals and animals seized in connection with cruelty investigations.
The Hillside SPCA does not have a predetermined time for how long an animal stays which defines them as a “no kill” shelter. The available animals for adoption are given every chance to find a new, forever home through the attempts of the shelter staff.
A great aspect of Hillside is how the animals have the ability to interact with other animals because they aren’t kept in crates throughout the day. They are free to play and interact with others in large fenced-in yards or cat condos. This is great for their socialization skills particularly if they’ve never interacted with other animals.
The staff is amazing, dedicated, has trained and certified humane officers and humane investigators who are involved in animal cruelty investigations. Hillside attempts to provide 24 hour coverage unless there is a staff shortage.
Any size gift that your budget will allow makes a difference in the world of an animal in need at Hillside. Please share this project with your family, friends, co-workers, employer and neighbors. This is a great chance to pool resources to make a donation to this much needed project!

Does it matter that I’m unable to give a large donation? I’d like to give more but don’t have the financial means to do so. Please let me know. Thank you.

So many shelters are becoming run down. Donations have gone down for years and the shelters are paying the price. If you want to give your hard-earned money to a worthy cause, donate to a good shelter. They need all the help they can get.
Shelters rock! says
Hope they got their roof fixed.

Some shelters are so poor and depend on the public to help them. They work tirelessly for animals. People dump their problems on the shelters. I wish we didn’t need shelters meaning I wish people took responsibility for their pets and kept them forever and treated them well.
