Is this how you treat man’s best friend in Pennsylvania? If not, continue reading to see what you can do to help tethered dogs.
Many dogs are tethered to dog houses/boxes/trees/fences 24/7 with no escape from that ties that bind them to a life of confinement and loneliness.
These companionless and secluded dogs are forced to endure living outside when the temperatures are sizzling hot and bitter cold. Some live on a lifeline of a chain or rope of a measly few feet or less. What kind of life is this for man’s beloved best friend?
I have never understood anyone wanting a dog only to force it to live a lonely existence outside shackled to a dog house or worse- a tree with no protection from the beastly weather elements.
If you would like to see tethered dogs’ lives change in Pennsylvania, House Bill 41, which was recently introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Mario Scavello (R), has the capacity to make this much-needed change.
If HB 41 is passed as is, the following will change for chained dogs:
It will prohibit dogs outside between 10 PM and 6 AM. It will prohibit tethering during extreme weather conditions. It will require proper fitting collars; no prongs, chokers or poke collars. It limits the type of of tether which may be used. No tow chains will be permitted.
UnchainPADogs is an organization dedicated to this cause. Kathy Slagle, President and founder of this group, is urging PA animal advocates to make that call to his or her Representative. It is your voice they need to hear. They need to know we care about the welfare of chained dogs.
Kathy has been an outstanding advocate for tethered dogs in Pennsylvania and is asking people to link over to the organization’s website where you will find more information. The links to make that call and to join the Coalition Against Tethering are directly below this. Kathy is also asking you to participate in a very short survey on the website. Let’s stand up and together and remove the chains from Pennsylvania dogs forever!
lease go to www.unchainpadogs.com and …Find your state representative and make the call asking him/her to co-sponsor, or at least support, House Bill 41.If you have not already done so, please join the Coalition Against Tethering.Because we want to hear your thoughts on acceptable limits for tethering dogs outside, please complete the survey on the website.

Today, while I was at work, my sister stole my iPad and tested to see if it can survive a 25 foot drop, just so she
can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now
broken and she has 83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!

This bill doesn’t do much to help outside dogs.

Normally I do not learn post on blogs, however
I wish to say that this write-up very forced me to take a look at and do
so! How sad for dogs to live their lives chained outside. I hope your bill passes and dogs’ lives will be forever changed.

I’ve a presentation next week, and I’m at the look for such information. You gave me ideas to use to help animals. The legal aspect of helping animals. Thanks!

I don’t like HB 41 as is. Dogs will be stuck outside in extreme temperatures. What good is this bill if the dogs are forced to be tied during the day when it’s extremely warm because it hasn’t hit a certain temp or very cold but the temp isn’t quite cold enough.
This is the HSUS’s version. What happened to Kathy’s work on this bill? Does she like this version? She must if she wants to go along with it. While I understand it’s better than nothing, it still isn’t good.
Sorry.

I’ll call my state rep. I think we can do better than HB 41 but what is the aleternative?
Pink Ribbon says
Yes! Finally! Well, not exactly. We’ve seen this before. I’m jumping ahead of myself. We’ll see. We already have many bills in the Senate and the House. I hope it doesn’t get lost among the others. No more chained dogs!!
Lucy says
To Frederic: What does your comment about your IPad have to do with anti-tethering legislation? Read before you comment.

Hey, thanks for the UnchainPADog’s website info. I’m going to join the coalition to end tethering.

It’s Augusta again. I forgot to say that she worked tirelessly to unchain dogs in PA. I guess she gave that up in PA since she now lives in Virginia. Something doesn’t add up for me. Just sayin.

Whatever happened to Tami Grimes/Tamira Thayne of Dogs Deserve Better who bought Michael Vick’s former Bad Newz Kennels. Seems like she was in alot of trouble for neglecting dogs. That’s not good.

I don’t live in PA. I’ve been fighting this same cause in my home state. All of us work so hard to change situations for animals and it takes forever to do. Hang in there, all of you! We have to keep at it and we will conquer and win.

Howdy would you mind stating which blog platform you’re using? I’m going
to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a hard time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I’m
looking for something completely unique.
P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about
this, like you wrote the book in it or something.
I think that you could do with a few pics of chained dogs to drive the message home a bit, but other than
that, I like what you wrote. I will certainly be back.

I hate seeing dogs tethered to posts, fences, washlines and all by themselves. They’re so lonely. Dogs are social creatures and need interaction. Leaving a dog chained is cruel in more ways than we realize. Come on politicians, pass this HB 41!

Can’t wait for humane lobby day to talk about this!

They have made changes in other states to unteather dogs. There is a place in PA, a township or so, that doesn’t allow tethering of dogs. It’s really simple to cha”inge” the obvious but we have bureaucracy to get this accomplished. So wrong to allow dogs to suffer like this! Before you know it, summer will be here and how many dogs will die because they can’t escape it?

I want to stress I am not wanting to argue the moral high ground of The Pirate Bay;
your website was obviously giving a persons easy access to data but
this won’t form the basis of a conviction within my mind. Thats traditional and traditional is dumb on this age of epublishing.

Hi! I could have sworn I’ve visited this website before but after looking at some of the articles I realized it’s new to me.
Anyways, I’m definitely pleased I stumbled upon it and I’ll be book-marking it and checking back frequently! I’m interested in the legislative part of animals. This particular post was of great interest to me. I don’t always agree with what you write.

I’m no specialist, but I think it’s a fantastic idea. If they have bonded with the dogs, imagine the loss they feel right now not to have those dogs around them. The sooner the better.

Where are there kittens for sale? Basically pedigreed kittens Get started at about $600.Why would you want to “obtain” one? Kittens at pet retailers come from horrible backyard breeders that churn out litter upon litter of kittens of no unique breed with all the focus on profit and none on the kittens. They also not altered, not given their shots, etc.Go to a shelter and you can adopt a kitten (or cat) for only around $one hundred. The animal will currently be already altered.

What about shelters who kill so quickly without giving the public a chance to see what animals r available for adoption? They don’t care if they kill or not. Heartless people who don’t belong in this business.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!|
