I recieved an email from a friend who had fostered a senior (10 yrs. old) female beagle last fall who now has found herself in a position of having this lovable dog named Gracie returned to her. Although Gracie has a great home with her “foster mom”, Gracie is now among five dogs in the home. This is too many dogs for this woman to handle. So this woman, Val, is in desperate need of a new home for Gracie.
According to Val, Gracie is calm, sweet and loves to give kisses! She is housetrained and doing fine in a crate back in her foster home but Gracie won’t need to be crated if she is a single pet home. Gracie loves to wander around in a fenced in yard. She does well with a leash, enjoys walking and the exercise it provides.
Gracie is fine with older children and the elderly. She is also fine with cats and would possibly do okay with a calm, older male dog. According to Val, Gracie would need to be monitored in a multi-dog household where food attention and resources could become an issue. But with the monitoring, Gracie may be a fit in that home as well.
That is the only drawback to Gracie. She does not share food well with others. Other than that, she does not mind dogs. It doesn’t take much to separate dogs when it comes time to eat.
Please, can anyone give this give sweetheart a chance at a forever home? She needs another chance at happiness. If you have the time and patience to love this sweet girl, please contact Val at valliesong@yahoo.com.
I apologize for not having a photograph of Gracie but I’m sure Val can help you.
Please help Gracie find a forever home!!
UPDATE ON GRACIE INFO FROM VAL:
Gracie will need to be *very* carefully monitored in a multi-pet home, as it is the excitement surrounding food in addition to the food itself that can set off a fight. Unless the new home is very experienced dealing with this kind of thing and can crate-and-rotate the dogs if they ultimately don’t get along, she would do best in a single dog home. She is a typical beagle, and can be vocal at times, especially when her favorite person is coming home or there is food to be had. She has no food aggression or other issues with humans – just other dogs. In fact, she has no other issues at all. I know there are plenty of homes out there who only want one dog, so hopefully Gracie can find one!If anyone wants a photo, please email me. She is a little tri-color girl with a white (gray?) face.
