I’m sure you’ve heard about the 22 lb. cat that “trapped” a family in a bedroom that led to the father calling 911 for help.
Lux, the four-year old part-Himalayan, scratched a seven-month old baby’s forehead after the child pulled the cat’s tail.
The cat “went over the edge” says Lee Palmer, father of the baby, after he kicked the cat in the butt. Palmer, his girlfriend and their child stayed in the bedroom along with the dog where they felt safe from the wrath of the aggressive cat.
Each time they attempted to leave the room, Lux charged them, hissed, and screeched. “He was kind of a violent cat in the past but he is really being bad right now” said Palmer, according to the 911 phone call.
Lux was caught by the police using a dog snare and was placed in a crate.
People snickered. They thought how ridiculous it was for a family unable to leave a bedroom because of an aggressive cat.
While the story seemed amusing, I can remember vividly how I was viciously attacked by a relative’s cat. The cat sunk his sharp teeth into my left forearm and refused to let go no matter much I pulled and pulled on his head and neck.
I screamed as the pain increasingly got worse. Those teeth had a grip on me. When I was finally able to extricate the cat from my arm, one look at my arm proved how badly my arm and hand were swollen. My forearm was ripped open with puncture wounds surrounding the area. The cat also tore my pants with his claws.
An ER doctor said the bite was one of the worst she had seen.
So, what’s the family gonna do with Lux?
Lux will remain at home. He will be visiting a veterinarian to check if a physical problem provoked his behavior. A pet psychologist will also evaluate him for behavorial issues and treat accordingly.
I’m glad to hear this much to the chagrin of those who think the cat should be euthanized. I never wanted the cat who bit me to lose his life. Animals do give signals to let you know to leave them alone. When we ignore the signs, let what happened to me be a lesson.
Or should they listen to one of the “Basketball Wives” express her opinion about cats sucking the air out of a baby’s mouth. A myth she disputes.
Listen to the end of the video when she tells you what should really be done to a cat. Disgusting. Wonder why our kids are cruel to animals?

The baby pulled the cat’s tail! Then he was hit in the butt. What do you expect lux to do?
not the cat lady says
I don’t know if I’d keep a cat that attaked my baby who has a violent history. Maybe this cat would be better off in a home with no kids.
Alisson M. says
Scared of your cat? Seriously? Come on. That seems to be a stretch. Tina, are you afraid of cats?
tinaevangelistaeppenstein says
Alisson, I’m no longer afraid of cats. I was for quite awhile. The bite was traumatic for me.
Thanks for asking.
Tina
people are nuts says
Those two women should have that done to them. To say that…..what can I say? Idiots.
S. M. R. says
I can’t believe that “woman” said to hang a cat. Stupidity runs rampant and it shows.
Whitney says
Cats can get very nasty.
Julia says
Cats can be mean. There’s always a reason why an animal behaves the way it does. They said this cat has a history of violence. Why haven’t they gotten help for the cat before this since they’re doing it now?
