WORLD ANIMAL DAY 2017 IN UGANDA will feature a number of special activities including:
PAINTING OF A MURAL AT PECE STADIUM
The kinship of people and animals will be depicted in a huge mural at Pece Stadium in Gulu. Members of the community will be invited to come and help create this beautiful piece of artwork during the week of September 25, 2017.
PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN
We will be promoting World Animal Day through the outreach efforts of our 17 Animal Kindness Clubs, and through radio and television appearances during September. We are also producing a song which will be re-mixed to help promote World Animal Day and regularly broadcast on radio stations and on public broadcast.
PARADE
A huge parade will occur on the morning of October 4, commencing at Gulu District Headquarters and ending at Pece Stadium. We anticipate 100 dogs and their guardians will march, along with a lively local band, and 17 Animal Kindness Clubs, each performing their own unique march. Awards will be given for parade performances.
AFTERNOON FESTIVAL
An afternoon festival at Pece Stadium in Gulu will feature dog contests, speeches by celebrities and dignitaries, live musical performances, and the District Competitions for Animal Kindness Clubs featuring performances in drama, poetry recitation, song, and dance which communicate the importance of compassionate living.
EVENING GALA EVENT
An evening gala event will serve as a fundraiser for The BIG FIX Uganda’s programs and services and will feature refreshments, live music, an art auction, and a dog fashion show featuring the artistic creations of Uganda’s amazing designers.
