Will Travers, an internationally-renowned wildlife expert who has dedicated his life to wildlife issues, and son of Virginia McKenna and the late Bill Travers, who starred in the 1966 film “Born Free” will be my guest.
The United Kingdom has announced it would impose one of the world’s toughest bans on the sale of ivory. With about 30,000 African elephants killed by poachers every year, the ban is sorely needed to protect the species.
The U.K. ban is stricter than the American ban, which went into effect in 2016 and allows the trading of ivory antiques more than 100 years old. Mr. Travers will talk about the international ivory trade, and compare the U.S. and U.K. ivory bans. He will share his insights into the current state of the ivory market, its dangers and what they can do to preserve Africa’s endangered elephants.
Will and his parents co-founded Born Free USA, and is president of the Species Survival Network.
