Bulldogs are very special dogs for their loyalty, having the ability to make you laugh and their unwavering love for anyone who has one!
However, the bulldog breed does not come without his/her special care and attention. They aren’t an easy breed to have and not for the novice owner/guardian.
The five main issues bulldogs encounter are
- heat sensitivity
- fold dermatitis
- elbow and hip dysplasia
- narrow nasal opening/breathing problems
- inability to swim
Heat Sensitivity:
Most bulldogs aren’t tolerant of any excessive exercising regime. Their build and the structure of their noses and nasal passage opening makes it difficult for them to tolerate and be sensitive to heat. Bulldogs were meant to be indoor dogs and should never be left outside alone for any length of time. They also don’t tolerate the outside cold weather either.
Bulldogs can NOT swim!
They are prone to hip and elbow dysplasia due to their built.
In the right hands, bulldogs are the perfect pets! They need special attention and very loving care to handle them properly.
Even if you don’t have a bulldog, you can’t deny, “Bulldogs are Beautiful!”
