Since 2001, the biennial Asia for Animals conference has welcomed thousands of animal professionals, advocates, scientists and scholars from across the globe. As the largest and longest-running forum for people working for animals in Asia, Asia for Animals has generated lasting partnerships and new ideas for tackling the world’s greatest challenges in animal protection and wildlife management.
The 10th Asia for Animals conference will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 2nd to 5th December 2017 (with optional field trips from 6th to 8th December).
The conference is the flagship programme of the Asia for Animals Coalition — 16 of the world’s leading animal protection organisations which have a shared focus on improving the welfare of animals in Asia. |
Changing Human Behaviour
Most animal suffering is caused by humans doing, or not doing, something. The way we treat animals, the products we buy and the entertainment we seek can all cause suffering. To help animals, we must change the hearts and minds of humans.
Changing human behaviour is not as simple as telling or showing people that animals suffer. To really change human behaviour, we need to understand the attitudes and beliefs that motivate people to do what they do. Then we can try to find the best ways to coax human individuals, communities and populations towards a more compassionate lifestyle.
Most of us, in some way, are trying to change what people do. We all have experience, knowledge or ideas to share about Changing Human Behaviour. Asia for Animals 2017 will be an opportunity for all of us to learn more about this theme – the key to achieving great, lasting impact for the animals of Asia.
