‘WARNING- GRAHPHIC VIDEO’
Forrest City Area Humane Society is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal shelter located in Arkansas. Over this past Memorial Day weekend, it appears animal control officers allowed 14 dogs together in an open pen since noon on Sunday in 91 degree heat and with no water as seen in this video. The dogs were still in this pen in the evening when one of the volunteer humane society workers arrived to check on the dogs. In this video, you will see what happened as a result of someone’s actions at this shelter.
One of the dogs, a yellow Lab named Bozo- had at least 100 puncture wounds. He eventually went into shock and died. Six dogs in total were injured. Three of the dogs are shown in this video including Bozo.
Dogs were fighting and what was seen was a blood bath. One poor dog was being dragged around by two other dogs as witnessed by the humane society worker. It was a “blood bath, with several dogs lying on the ground injured, unable to move, and worse, one poor, gentle dog was being dragged around by several other dogs. Blood was everywhere: on the walls, fence and gate. Even their dog houses were smeared in blood โ where some of dogs had tried to escape the violence. Fourteen dogs in total had been left together outside in one area โ nine females (two of which were in heat) and five males.”
“Forrest City Animal Control officers are appointed by the Mayor. The purpose of animal control is to protect the public from stray and loose dogs. They are responsible for picking up loose dogs, enforcing the city’s dog related ordinances, and removing all “road kill” within the city limits. The animal control officers are also charged with maintaining the city dog shelter and confiscated dogs.”
Will these animal control officers be held accountable? And why would anyone in their right mind allow these dogs to be together in an open enclosure without supervision in 91 degree heat and no water?
If you go to their website at www.fcahumane.org, you will see for yourself, this is not the first time something like this has happened at this shelter. If you scroll to the bottom of their homepage, you can read a letter from the FCAHumane’s president about the animal control officers. Something must be done!
