BREAKING NEWS! We have put down the 30% we all raised and gotten a loan for the property. Our next goal is to fence the entire place and renovate the existing structure to house dogs while we pay it off and fundraise for our state-of-the-art facility. Will you help?
Tami Thayne, CEO and founder of Dogs Desersve Better (and my friend) has secured the loan to buy the former Bad Newz Kennels that once belonged to former convict, Michael Vick.
This is a great victory. Tami’s mission is to change this former dogfighting arena into a rehab for former chained and penned dogs.
No longer will any dog have to suffer injuries or unimaginable deaths at the hands of ruthless, heartless people. Instead, the Good Newz Rehab Center is a place of hope and inspiration. Giving dogs a second chance at life.
Tami has worked tirelessly and diligently for the last nine years to help chained dogs. Her methods have come under scrutinty by some. Even by those in the animal welfare field. She has been called “crazy” and ridiculous. Neither is true.
She removed a dog from her neighbor’s property because no animal control officer would come out to check on it after receiving numerous phone calls. Tami took that dog. People felt she had no right. She was arrested for it. I’d do the same. She saved the dog’s life!
She chained herself to a dog box on the steps of the capitol in Harrisburg. Some animal welfare leaders scoffed at her attempt to get a bill passed into law to protect chained dogs. Hey, I visited Tami twice on those steps. Kudos to her!
In my humble opinion, I feel these so-called animal welfare leaders are jealous because this woman has been able to accomplish so much for chained dogs. While they see her pursuits as ridiculous, I find her to be an innovator and a pioneer in helping man’s best friend. She has won numerous awards on behalf of her work.
To be in the animal welfare field, you must think outside of the box (no pun intended) to make a change. Times are tough and animals are dying by the millions each year in the US.
The Good Newz Rehab- has a nice ring to it. Check out this video to get a peak inside it with Sloan- the Rehab’s first dog to visit it.
