Senate Bill 1329, “Daniel’s Law”, that would essentially ban the use of gas chambers in the state of PA has passed unanimously in the Senate Ag Committee this morning.
This is great news and thank you’s go out to Senator Dinniman and all of the co-sponsors of the bill. Another thank you goes out to the legislators who voted for SB 1329.
While they need to be thanked, it’s imperative that we thank all PA animal advocates for calling their state legislators on this important ruling that took place today.
Lastly, I want to thank Daniel. Had it not been for that precious dog you see in the photo being held by Joe Dwyer, his owner, and the impetus for Daniel’s Law, this would not have taken place.
Daniel’s story of survival of a harrowing gas chamber has become national and international news.
After speaking with Joe personally, he told me Japanese television heard of Daniel’s story and was so touched that they wanted to air his story in Japan to help save the lives of animals in that country. Joe told me that he wants the other animals who were in the same gas chamber remembered for they lost their lives and he doesn’t want their deaths to be in vain. I feel the same. I want every animal that has lost his/her life in an animal shelter or elsewhere to not have died in vain.
In my heart, with animal advocates, we remember those who lost their lives. They have left imprints on our hearts and forever in our souls.
Daniel’s story is just beginning, as I told Joe during our conversation. His story has resonated with the world.
Hopefully, Daniel’ story will continue to resonate with the PA legislators to make Senate Bill 1329 into Daniel’s Law- banning the use of gas chambers forever in the state of PA!
Don’t forget to keep calling your state legislators on Senate Bill 1329. We need to end this barbaric manner in which to kill animals. Our voices need to be the voices for those who have lost their lives in gas chambers and they need to be heard by our legislators.
I told Joe earlier today to give Daniel a big hug from all of us advocates. After hearing the good news, Joe told me that Daniel has received so many hugs and kisses already but will surely enjoy more!
