The Rose Parade aka the Tournament of Roses Parade held on New Year’s Day is known for its float covered in flowers. One of those floats this year will be sponsored by the Lucy Pet Foundation, an organization whose purpose is to promote spaying and neutering your pet.
The float (seen above) will consist of five shelter pets that have been chosen from around the nation. One very well-known dog who is the “spokesdog” for the Lucy Pet Foundation float is “Daniel the Beagle” who survived an Alabama gas chamber.
Daniel was adopted by Joe Dwyer, a motivational speaker from New Jersey. He lives with his family which includes other rescue dogs since 2011. Since that time, Joe and Daniel have helped 31 states to change laws to ban the use of gas chambers as a means of euthanizing shelter animals.
In fact, it was Daniel and Joe who were invited by Senator Andy Dinniman (D) in Pennsylvania to participate in a rally to get Daniel’s Law passed in this state back in 2011. The bill was passed into law and gas chambers are longer used in animal shelters in Pennsyvlania.
Joe was a guest on my television show in 2012 to discuss this very topic.
The Lucy Pet Foundation began only three short months ago to promote spaying and neutering, They use a spay/neuter mobile in which they have successfully performed these procedures on 250 dogs and cats. Their ultimate goal is to have 50 trucks, one for each state. This is a low-cost surgery for those who cannot afford or have no means to get to the vet.
Joe and Daniel are very busy rehearsing for the parade and having lots of fun in California and it couldn’t be for a better cause! Joe told me via the phone the reason he made the decision to be in the parade was his strong belief in the Lucy Pet Foundation and their philosophy of spaying and neutering.
Joe also stated he is also there to create awareness of gas chambers still used in animal shelters. He said Daniel did very well traveling to California and is ready for tomorrow’s parade despite having a very busy schedule.
Look for this one-of-a-kind float on January 1st. The parade begins at 11 AM (EST) 8 AM (Pacific Time) All five dogs will be performing stunts or tricks. A must see for anyone enjoys pets!

Way cool! Will check it out! Daniel is an inspiration. I remember him at the rally but there’s so many who still die by gas chambers. I can’t believe anyone will still use them in this day and age.

Cathy, the float appeared as the last one during the televised production. It was a crowd favorite with dogs doing lots of tricks. Sorry you missed it! It even won an award.

Barely caught the float being the last one in the parade.

I don’t even know the way I ended up right here, however
I thought this post was good but I know I’m too late to see the parade. I read through some of your posts and you are however definitely going to a well-known writer for those who don’t already.
