A candlelight vigil is being held tomorrow evening for the 80 puppymill dogs who were killed in cold blood by brothers, Elmer and Ammon Zimmerman. The vigil will be held at Kutztown and Hottenstein Roads. This is located directly off Rt. 222 North. It is requested that you park on Hottenstein Road. Please bring no-drip candles. For more information on the vigil, visit, www.NPPMWatch.com. I will be attending this event and I encourage all animal lovers to do the same.
What can I say about this despicable, horrific act of animal cruelty which will go unpunished because of the current laws that go unchanged due to certain legislators. The group of legislators who have opposed House Bill 2525 need to wake up and understand that these laws need to change this fall. No more waiting and adding amendments to the current house bill as was done last time around. PASS THE BILL AND HELP THESE DEFENSELESS ANIMALS AGAINST THE CRUELTIES OF PUPPYMILLS!! You don’t need any more evidence than this. I would encourage you to call your legislators and voice your opinion and outrage over this.
But, one has to know that puppymillers routinely kill their dogs when no longer wanted. This may be a horrible thing to say but killing with a 22 caliber gunshot directly to the head (I’m assuming they did that) may have been a kinder way to kill than smacking the dogs against rocks or bludgeoning them to death with rocks, or stomping on them or however else they inhumanely kill them. This may have been the least amount of pain these dogs had to go through during their lifetimes. Do not take my statement out of context. I do not condone for one moment what these puppymillers did to those poor dogs!
They are also routinely debarked with a rebar. A rebar is a foot-long metal wire that is shoved down a dog’s throat that pops its voicebox. The dog is conscious the entire time.
Puppymillers have a different mentality about animals than most of us. They are not viewed as pets, as members of the family, but as livestock and as profit. As I said puppymiller dogs are killed routinely and not always humanely. This occurrence is not out of the ordinary. I am outraged, horrified, mortified and sickened beyond belief.
The new House Bill 2525 would not ever allow this to happen again. Call your legislators and encourage them to vote for this bill.
I spoke to Bill Smith from Mainline Rescue, Chester County, last month and he told me something quite interesting. Bill is the person who used the billboard approach to get Oprah’s attention on puppymills and it worked. He was on her show this past May talking about the plight of puppymills. He told me of the video footage he had of actual puppymills and the horrors associated with it. He told me certain people didn’t believe his footage was real even though the reality and horrors of puppymills has been well documented and has gotten widespread media coverage? What am I missing with these skeptics?
I knew about this place for awhile and I had questioned why nothing was being done about these dogs. It ate me up knowing how these animals lived. These problems had plagued these puppymillers for awhile and obviously nothing had changed.
The dogs are out of their misery and have crossed over the rainbow bridge and are finally free at last!
I would encourage people not to do business with the Zimmermans and let other businesses who deal with them that you won’t do business with them as long as they are still doing business with these despicable brothers.
Hope to see you tomorrow evening.
