Berks County has a new Animal Emergency Center- the Berks Animal Emergency Center and Referral Center (BAERC) located at 400 West Lancaster Avenue. The center is located near the light at Museum Road and Lancaster Avenue where the old Copyworld occupied this building.
According to Dr. Carl Veltri, Director of VCA Cacoosing Animal Hospital, BAERC serves the greater Reading Area, providing emergency and specialty veterinary care for family pets.
BAERC is a 24 hour hospital that is opened from 5PM Friday until Monday 8AM.
Carl goes on to say, “We are fully staffed so that we can handle emergencies such as pets hit by cars, dog fights, snake bites, and anything else you can think of.”
Here are other special areas of interest in the event you need emergency service for your pet. There is a doctor available all the time which is not the same for most hospitals during the overnight hours.
BAERC has a board certified surgeon who is able to perform difficult surgeries such as laryngeal paralysis and pelvic fractures. This particular veterinarian not only had gone to veterinary school but did three more years of training in surgery.
BAERC also has digital radiography, ultrasonongraphy, oxygen cages and even more importantly, they are able to perform after hours emergency surgeries.
This is a great addition to our area. When my dog, Lady, needed assistance overnight years ago, my husband and I had to drive to Allentown to get her medical help. It is great to know we now have a local Emergency Center for our pets.
Remember this is not a regular animal hospital but an emergeny center only.
Their phone number is 610-775-7535.
