Vick’s Virgina home where he is serving the remainder of his 23-month sentence – “tough gig” for the former NFL Atlanta Falcon player
In a 98-word statement, the Atlanta Falcons said they have released Michael Vick, the convicted animal abuser, from his contract. And sources say this makes him one step closer to returning to the NFL. That’s great -NOT!!
Before that can happen, Vick willl have to overcome a few hurdles. First, he will have to be reinstated to the NFL. Football commissioner, Roger Goodell had suspended Vick indefinitely. Goodell says he has not committed to reinstating Vick and will not make a decision before the end of his sentence which ends on July 20th.
Ok, let’s say he gets reinstated…..next hurdle…..what team will pick up this former star quarterback? Thus far, five teams have said no the “Vick”. The Tampa Bay Bucaneers (the latest team to say no), the Washington Redskins, the San Francisco 49’ers, the Dallas Cowboys and the Seattle Seahawks.
Jim Mora, head coach of the Seattle Seahawks says Vick has paid his debt to society and should be given a chance in the NFL. If he should be given a chance, why then, Mr. Mora, why don’t you give him that second chance? And please explain how he paid his debt to society. Yes, he served time in prison but now is sentenced to “home confinement” for the remainder of his prison term in his gorgeous ,spacious home pictured above.
Plus, I don’t see or hear any remorse emanating from Vick for not only bankrolling his dogfighting ring but participating in the brutal killing of his own dogs by means of electrocution, drowning, hanging or banging their bodies against cement until they were dead. But I guess remorse could mean the docu-drama reality show he plans to do.
Another hurdle this former star quarterback has to face is that he hasn’t played in a long time. Will that hamper his efforts to negotiate with a team?
I feel the real hurdle for Vick to overcome is the backlash a team will receive if they hire him from animal welfare advocates/groups and pet lovers everywhere. People are outraged over what this man has done to innocent animals. And what team wants that? The bottomline for football is the almighty buck. They are there to make money not to lose money. So who will take a chance on this guy?
From what I hear, there are five NFL teams that may possibly hire him. They are the Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams, New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings and the New England Patriots.
So what team will pay Vick , once again……remember the NFL paid Vick alot of money which he used to bankroll his dogfighting operation.
Do you think Vick will be reinstated? And if so, do you think there will be a backlash or do you think people will forgive and forget? This should be quite interesting to see which team has the guts to hire him……Stay tuned….
