Another brutal case of dog whose paws were cut off has reached the news. Mila, the name given to her, was found under a parked car in a suburb of Belgrade.. Apparently she suffered for up to 10 days like this with no help. She was hungry, dehydrated and in pain. But through it all she did not become aggressive. Unbelievable and remarkable.
How she survived has been described as a miracle. Particularly in a country where animal abuse is rampant and so cruel.
The Mayor of Belgrade, Dragan Djilas, has announced “the city will provide funds for prosthetic limbs, which are the only solution for Mila to walk again.”
Fund B92, Belgrade City city administration and SOS Animals Association will join forces to raise funds and help Mila to get prostatic aids which is her only hope of walking again.

This is the second case of a mutilation of a dog having its legs cut off in less than a week that I have written about. You can’t say cruelty like this doesn’t happen in the US because it does. Last year a small puppy named Peanut was hacked to death while somone was taking photos with his/her cell phone. It’s quite graphic and don’t wish to expound any further.
What goes through these people’s minds when they commit such atrocious acts of animal cruelty? A spokesperson from SOS has said the city “has no way to fight against sick minds that cut off the legs of a dog.”
The Mayor has said he wants to help educate the people and build modern asylums for homeless dogs in this city where this dog was tortured. Good for him and I hope he follows through with those much-needed plans!
Mila, which stands for Darling, shows no animosity toward people after being brutally attacked. She is an amazing, “darling” dog. Her name fits her perfectly.
I do believe in justice. It may not be on our timetable. But I truly believe in what goes around, comes around whether in this lifetime or not. You reap what you sow. I say, let the “sowing” begin!
