Skip Derbe Eckhart, owner of Almost Heaven Kennels located in Emmaus, has had his hearing delayed again. The hearing was to take place tomorrow on animal cruelty charges.
Unbelievable. This is one of the largest puppymill busts in PA to happen earlier this fall nearly in my backyard. The images of this puppymill and the dogs plastered on the news making headlines in newspapers are still fresh in my mind. I have known about this place for years and so have others. Eckhart has a history of animal cruelty charges. I have a friend who lives nearly a mile away from this hell-hole. Why is this hearing delayed again?
If he claims he is so innocent and has nothing to hide, why is he and his lawyer using delay tactics? Meanwhile, more animals suffer.
Almost Heaven Kennels has remained open despite being shut down by the PSPCA. Eckhart appealed the revocation of his kennel license. Because of this, he is able to keep his kennel open and having his dogs “pump” out more puppies.
Eckhart has another hearing scheduled for December 19th for the revocation of his license. If he loses and doesn’t appeal, he will have to get rid of his dogs. What do you think the chances are of that happening?
Will justice be served in the case of Eckhart? There seems to be too many loopholes for these people to get away with animal cruelty. This is a black and white issue for me. He is cruel to the dogs just as all puppymills are cruel to the dogs. Pay the price for doing wrong- plain and simple. If only it was that simple.
I’ve been informed by one of my commenter’s, Mary, that Eckhart is indeed selling his puppies in the classified section of the Reading Eagle.
This entire monstrosity is unbelievable to me. Let justice prevail!
