The Animal Legal Defense Fund is contributing $5,000 to a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the death of a pit bull who was found taped up and wrapped up in a carpet alongside a road in Woodland, California on January 8th.
The older pit bull was found to have a plastic bag covering his head with it taped around the neck. The dog’s front and back legs were taped as well.
The Sheriff’s Office states the deceased was an older male with cropped ears and mostly gray body. He had some white on the underbody, chest, and face. The dog had died recently when found, according to a forensic pathologist.
A driver spotted the carpet and stopped to investigate. Upon examination, the motorist discovered the dog rolled up inside the carpet. The deceased dog was found near County Road 22 and the northbound Interstate 5 on-ramp in Yolo County.
“This innocent dog was senselessly tortured and killed and deserves justice. Anyone who would kill a defenseless dog in such a sick manner is also a danger to the community and needs to be taken off the streets,” says Stephen Wells, ALDF executive director. “We urge anyone who has any information about this case to come forward and help get justice for this dog.”
If you have information related to this case, you are asked to contact Yolo County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 530-668-5248 or YoloCoSheriffTips@yolocounty.org; Yolo County Sheriff’s Animal Services at 530-668-5237; or complete the Anonymous Crime Tip Form.
Under California law, any person convicted of maliciously and intentionally maiming or killing an animal can be imprisoned for up to three years in county jail and/or fined $20,000 for felony animal cruelty. In California, it is at the district attorney’s discretion whether animal cruelty is charged as a felony.

God bless this dog. People are “animals.” May they find the same fate at the end of their lives.

Did you hear about the dogs who were kept outside during the blizzard in New York? People started calling the police after the neighbor recorded the dogs crying during the snowstorm. The dogs were allowed to stay and suffer. The woman was told to bring them in and she did only to put them outside when they left. She only got a summons. They didn’t remove the dogs! If this isn’t abuse or neglect, I don’t know what is. Even when there are laws on the books, they don’t matter if they’re not enforced! This story is heartbreaking. Why did anyone have to kill a dog in this vile way? The more I love animals, the less I like people.

Catch the bastards!

There should be rewards like this for all acts of animal cruelty. I know it isn’t feasible but we need to catch every single person who abuses or kills animals.
