If you live near York County or want to hear about puppy mills from firsthand experience, A Tail to Tell , Puppy Mill Rescue, will be holding a lecture presentation at Morgan’s Paws Pet Care Center , 305 Hill Street, York, PA 1743, this Saturday, March 31st at 1PM. The lecture will include a slide presentation which includes the history of puppy mills, facts, anecdotes from their organization, the current state of affairs and what you can do to help these dogs.
This organization is run entirely by 25 volunteers who have dedicated their lives to saving mill dogs who are forced to live in the most despicable conditions despite the fact PA has a new dog law (Act 119) that was to oversee commercial kennels. Sadly, the law is not watching out for these dogs, in my opinion. This group has seen the mills firsthand and agree Act 119 has done little to squelch the misery of puppy mills.
This group provides veterinary care, foster homes and forever homes for the survivor dogs of puppy mills.
They have saved nearly 5,000 dogs says, volunteer Melody McFarland.
The volunteers have formed a relationship, if you will, with some Mennonite and Amish puppy millers, This trust has enabled them to save the dogs from these mills in Lancaster County.
Sometimes, the clock is ticking and time is of the essence to literally save a mill dog from losing its life. A Tail to Tell rescues the dogs before meeing an untimely death. The dogs stay in their care for however long it takes for them to be adopted.
This group works hard and diligently to help the mother and fathers stuck in puppy mills that are forced to procreate so you may buy one of their puppies at a pet store.
If you want to learn about the amazing work they do, make a trip to York County this Saturday!
One more thing- Don’t buy a puppy from a pet store that sells puppies but adopts!
