As you can tell the title of my blog has changed. I had been writing about animal issues that had greatly affected me in my previous blog but was limited in subject matter.I resigned my position as the Media Coordintor of the Animal Rescue League. The administration’s policies had changed during the course of my job and these changes conflicted with my core beliefs of what I stand for. Puppymills is one issue I am extremely passionate about. I have been to rallies, protests, went to Harrisburg and met and spoke with Anne Marie Lucas from the Animal Planet Precinct Show who spoke about what we can do as citizens to end puppymills. I have met and spoken with Bill Smith of Mainline Rescue who was on Oprah’s show talking about puppymills. I have met actors and musicians who stand up against this cuase. I want to delve more into this topic.Another subject that disturbs me so deeply is the dog fur industry in China. Dogs ~ mainly tan dogs ~ are killed and skinned (sometimes while they are still alive) for their fur. Their fur is used worldwide in all types of clothing. I think this is so despicable and unspeakable. It makes me so furious. I frankly can’t use the words to describe what I feel. They steal pets or find dogs that are roaming the streets and cram over 20 dogs in a small wire crate. They cannot move and await their death. These poor dogs are seen as commodities and not as pets. The images are truly disturbing ~ no that’s not the right word. They are horrific and unforgiving in my mind. The people who do this are the scum of the earth. The Chinese also kill cats as well. I will talk more about this in subsequent entries.Raising awareness of other animal rescue organizations is important to me. All animal resue groups need help to find homes for these pets. All of us who sincerely care about animals want to help each other out. Most shelters and resuce groups are overwhelmed. They need money to operate and they need to find good homes for these wonderful creatures. I will introduce you to other organizations with this blog.Another topic I would to talk about is the pitbull. Most of us know that pitbulls have received a bad reputation. Do pitbulls deserve more scrutiny? Is it the breed or the owner? It’s a hot topic and one I’m not afraid to tackle. These are but a few topics I want to write about. As always I welcome feedback and/or suggestions for other topics. I am ready to delve into almost anything about animals. You can lead the way with suggestions. I am looking forward to writing this blog and hearing from you. Thanks!!!
