Crystal Abdelghany’s 10 month old Pitbull went missing Friday night from her fenced in yard. As she searched for her dog, Ruttie, she came across police who made the grisly discovery of a dog who matched Ruttie’s description.
Ruttie apparently had been taken from her yard in the 1400 block of Perkiomen Avenue and set on fire. She was found on Penn Street near the Sovereign Center.
Her wounds were so severe that the veterinarian who treated Ruttie, Dr. John Melniczek, said the burns were so extensive that she was burned from her shoulders to her tail and penetrated to the dog’s muscle. He also said it appears that a flammable liquid was poured on her back and then set on fire.
Because of Ruttie’s horrific injuries, she was euthanized.
Ruttie disappeared Friday night at 6PM and was discovered at 7PM. This poor puppy was tortured and burned alive in less than an hour. Can you fathom the pain this young dog had to endure? The torture she felt in her very short life. My God. What has the city of Reading come to?
Let’s be real. The reason why so many people have Pitbulls in Reading is because of gangs and drugs. Owning a Pitbull is a status symbol to those types of people. We just found out last week the city of Reading ranks as the 37th worst city in the nation for crime. Most of the crimes are drug and gang related.
I am not saying Ruttie owner’s was involved in either but the chances that someone involved in drugs or a gang was involved with setting Ruttie on fire is highly likely.
It is time to take charge of these sick people and I mean sick! Who on earth could perpetetrate such a horrific crime against an innocent dog in her own backyard? How could anyone take a dog and possibly pour flammable liquid on her and let her burn to the muscle?
I’ll tell you who. Only a sick person could do this. Next time, it could be a person. When is the city of Reading going to buckle down and take charge of these gangs? What does it take to stop these sick individuals?
I don’t know about you , but if this was my dog, I would want revenge! Can you imagine this happening to your dog? What is the answer to stop these sick people from coming after your dog in your own yard?
Rest in peace, Ruttie.
