Tune to BCTV tomorrow evening at 5-6 PM (Ch.13 – Comcast, Ch19-Service Electric) when I will host a 1 hour special on puppymills on my program A Close-Up Look at Animal Welfare Issues. This show will have a panel of expert guests including members of United Against Puppymills, Sarah Speed, PA State Director of the Humane Society of the United States, Jessie L. Smith, Esq., Special Deputy Secretary , Dep’t of Agriculture and Dr. Carl Veltri, local veterinarian. The replay times are Friday at 7PM, Saturday 12PM and next Wednesday, the 8th, at 8 AM.
We will be exploring and showing the viewers what puppymills are and the atrocities associated with them. We will discuss the diseases and health conditions associated with puppymill dogs and their offspring.
Current legislation ~House Bills 2525 & 2532 ~ will be discussed. House Bill 2525 as proposed and passed unanimously in the House of Representatives would improve the lives of these dogs. After being sent to the Senate, amendments have been added. What do these amendments mean to the bills? Will it still make life better for these dogs. I hope this show will shed light on these and other questions.
We will be talking about the pet store – puppymill connection and what each one of us can do to make a difference in the lives of these poor dogs.
I hope you can tune in for tomorrow’s program. This program can be streamlined during the live broadcast on BCTV’s website and you will also be to access this program in the archives section.
